Liv Salades – Brunch

We loved the lunch at Liv Salades, so much so that we have been back several times.  And yes, we know “it’s just salad” but trust us, they revolutionized the way we look at salad.  So when we heard that Liv Salades started serving brunch, we were quite excited to see what they had in store for us.

“Smoothie of the day” 4$
“Latte” 3.50$ (milk/soy)

We started with a latte, which if you prefer, they can make using soy milk.  The sugar at the table sits in the cutest little dish with a hand carved wooden scoop.  We love little details like this, it adds to the atmosphere of a place.  We also tried their smoothie of the day which was made with banana, peach, strawberry, and orange.  Refreshing and bright, it was a great way to start our brunch!

“Tartine à l’avocat façon Liv” 14$

Yes, we ordered the avocado toast, but this avocado toast is anything but basic!  Served on a thin slice of sourdough bread, it was overflowing with toppings.  The confit cherry tomatoes added a nice touch of sweetness, and paired well with the balsamic vinegar that was drizzled on top.  The fresh figs were perfection with the caramelized walnuts, and the honey was a delicious addition. To top it all off, this avocado toast was also served with a little side of mint-infused ricotta.

“Gâteau aux 5 grains Diane” 13$

While the 5 grain and date cake may not sound like much of a brunch dish, it is not something to skip over.  Two slices of 5 grain cake is served with a generous amount of date caramel that has the consistency of apple sauce.   The cake itself is beyond moist, with tons of whole seeds, nothing chopped up here, within the cake.  It is not overly sweet but that’s where the date caramel comes in, for some added sweetness.  This cake is served with slices of grapefruit and blood orange, something rather different!

“Salade déjeuner Vivi” 18$

And because we’re somewhat gluttonous, we decided to also try the breakfast salad.  As per the Liv Salades standard, the salad was heaped full of goodness.  Spinach was the base of the salad topped with berries, avocado, a hard-boiled egg for some protein, Fairmount Bagel crisps and delicious grilled halloumi cheese for saltiness!  The salad was sprinkled with sesame seeds and honey for added crunch and sweetness.

It’s safe to say that we’re big fans of Liv Salades.  It’s hard not to be, the atmosphere is friendly and warm, and the food is delicious.
