L’Gros Luxe – Caesar Competition

There has been an ongoing debate as to which cocktail is better, the Bloody Mary or the Bloody Caesar. The Divas are partial to the Caesar, we love that salty clammy finish, how the juice isn’t too thick, and how perfect Mott’s Clamato is with horseradish.

During the month of March, all L’Gros Luxe locations, in collaboration with Jim Beam and Mott’s Clamato, are having a contest via Instagram for the BEST Bloody Caesar photo. The catch? You have to create your own Bloody Caesar at any L’Gros Luxe restaurant! Prizes include 5 snowboards, gift certificates and bottles of Jim Beam.

We were at the launch of the contest at the Sud-Ouest location and we had the chance to create our own Bloody Caesar. You have the choice of which alcohol to use: Jim Beam bourbon, Skyy Vodka, Sauza Tequila, Bombay Gin, Sake or Jagermeister. You also have a choice of garnishes, and yes, you can top your Caesar with all 11!

We created our Caesar using Jim Beam Bourbon, after all, they are one of the sponsors. We topped our drink with Diva favourites, deep fried pickles, a pogo and a beef burger. The deep fried pickles were great, the coating was crunchy and the pickle itself was still crunchy too. The pogo was nothing to write home about though, and for some reason, our burger was missing the patty!

One friend decided to go all out and topped her Caesar with all 11 toppings, which, among the goodies mentioned above, included a quesadilla, grilled cheese, pulled pork, onion rings, spring roll, jalapeno popper, tempura shrimp and a chicken wing. The Caesar was served in a stein to hold everything together. The quesadilla and grilled cheese were crispy and gooey, we were fighting over the crunchy onion rings, but our favourite was the chicken wing!

L’Gros Luxe Sud-Ouest also opened their indoor garden/terrace, it is spring after all! It is a beautiful space with plenty of tables and chairs, complete with a fireplace and chandeliers. It’s a change of atmosphere from the bar area with white wrought-iron chairs and lots of light coming in from the windows. It really has an old-school feeling! Make sure you get a chance to create your own Bloody Caesar at any L’Gros Luxe location, take a photo and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #lgrosluxecaesar for your chance to win!
