Global Montreal’s Foodie Friday with Camille Ross: Fave Restaurants that Opened in 2014

2014 was a busy year for the restaurant industry in Montreal. It seemed like every week there was a new restaurant opening event or menu revamping in this glorious city. Though we love going to opening events and enjoying the wine and canapés, we try not to judge a book by its cover. Meaning that if we are going to rate your restaurant and either hate or love the place (there’s no in between with us!), we better have enjoyed a nice sit down meal. We even try to make most of those dinners anonymous, we don’t want a restaurant to try to impress us because we are bloggers, instead we just want to be treated like ordinary customers…although we are anything but generic.

Montreal Food Divas on Global Montreal for Foodie Friday with Camille RossWhen Global Montreal asked us to come back on a Foodie Friday with the beautiful Camille Ross, we decided to do a segment on our favourite restaurants that opened in 2014. There were plenty to choose from but we chose to rave about those that had particularly impressed us. In no particular order we chatted about: Pizzeria Gema that we visit at least 3 times a month, Restaurant Manitoba and their game meat for something rather different, Vicolo for a more modern approach to Italian cuisine, Maison June Rose for traditional Chinese food with an à volonté menu, and L’Gros Luxe for cheap eats and comfort food.

Some of these restaurants like Vicolo are just starting out, others opened earlier in 2014, and others like Maison June Rose, were opened by established Montreal restaurant owners, like André Nguyen (we love him!) from Big in Japan Restaurant and Bar. As well as Faita and Forgione who opened Pizzeria Gema after the success of Impasto. As always, we had a fun time on the morning show with Camille Ross. We talked about where we were going to eat during the upcoming weekend, and where we ate the night before. All we do is eat and we need to do these television segments to prove that we aren’t obese! Thanks for showing the love dear fans, especially darling Sweet Pea, our most ardent supporter.
